After a well deserved lie in, today started with a quick dash to the ferry to get back onto the mainland. The weather was not as good as yesterday, but it certainly did not spoil the views!

It’s was only short day today with 61 miles up to Oban, with an average speed of 15.4 mph!

We are staying in the backpackers hostel tonight in Oban and we had a good laugh at the name of Geoff’s bunk …. That name is defiantly going to stick for while!

We have been for a lovely evening meal at an restaurant overlooking the bay and watched the paddle steamer dock.

Stats to date
Miles : 743
Feet climbed : 29,206 ft
Hours on the saddle : 54 hours … Ouch

We have also reached another milestone today … To date we have cycled the equivalent height of Everest (29,028ft)! I think that deserves a celebratory dram of whisky!

Over and out from Butthead

Why on earth did they (a) give the bonk bed a name and (b) call it Butthead. Random!
Looks like you had a great day. Don’t know how you are doing this. I ache from my jaunt to the coast and back and I don’t have to get on bike tomorrow. Good luck tomorrow xxxxx🚲🚴🚴🚴🍷🍻

  2. Sue, David’s is called Beavis and I had to google it to find out who they are. All the bunks are named presumably so you know which bed to get into after a few drinks. Oh and there will be no bonks in my bed!!!!!

      Oops
      I have typing Tourette’s!

The views look stunning and Beavis and Butthead still look pretty good too, even despite this gruelling challenge!
This is our last comment before you complete the Lejog ride.We are travelling about 1000 miles ourselves tomorrow……..but courtesy of EasyJet to Spain!
Would have been great to organise a welcome home banner in the street for your return, but the celebratory toast to your fantastic achievement will have to wait until we get back from holiday.
Well done lads and all the best for the next few days. All good wishes, Anne and Alan Davison xx

My ride today was still less than the mileage of your ‘easy’ day …. although I did climb the height of Ben Nevis!! The route for tomorrow looks lovely ….. enjoy what should be a superb day 🙂
